Week 3 (Semi-Final) – Eurovision: Your Country Needs You

It’s Semi-Final week and after losing 17 year old Charlotte last week, Ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton joined the judging panel on what was always going to be a heated show!

Voted out and not appearing in next week’s Final Show (Saturday, 31st January @ 6:40pm) is soul group Emperors of Soul, who were placed in the ‘Danger Zone’ along with vocalist Jade.

Week 2 – Eurovision: Your Country Needs You

Entering its second week of live shows, Graham Norton hosted a fun packed show, with special guest Duncan James from pop band Blue joining the judging panel.

Voted out and not appearing in next week’s semi final show (Saturday, 24th January @ 6:30pm on BBC1) was 17year old hopeful Charlotte.  The show will be joined by special guest and Ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton.

Wearing matching outfits and with an obvious case of double/twin vision, the twins entered the stage wearing fabulous pink dresses with big frilss down the front and gold piping, along with matching shoes.  The girls performed to the Girls Aloud recent hit, ‘The Promise’ – commented by judge Duncan James as a better version.

Singing her version of ‘The Voice Within’ by Christina Aguilera, Jade entered the stage wearing a stunning copper coloured dress and although it was a tough ballad Jade gave us an excellent performance with fantastic vocals.

In the Danger Zone last week and giving her all, Charlotte danced and sang her heard out to Duffy’s ‘Rain on my Parade’.  Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for Andrew and ended up agreeing witht he judges, saving group act Emperors of Soul.

Graham Norton hosts the first of the live shows where we choose the act to represent us at the Eurovision Song Contest in Russia later this year. Each week we will be reporting on which contestant is wearing what dress and where you can get it.

Singing Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Because of You’, Charlotte wore a stunning silk green fishtail dress with netting bottom and wowed the audience with her stunning vocals.  Andrew Lloyd-Webber is still looking to develop her vocals but she got off to a great start! In addition to being saved by Andrew from the ‘Danger Zone’ – or ‘Bottom Three’ as we’d better know it.

Singing the Grammy Award winning song by Carole King, ‘You’ve Got a Friend’ and later made famous again by James Taylor – the twins entered stage wearing black and white panelled mini prom dresses with white pleated/ruffled bottoms.  There performance was liked by the audience enough to see them go through to next week’s show.

Wearing a stunning and quite revealing leotard with large sequins, Jade entered the stage singing the massive hit Deja Vu by the internationally famous Beyonce Knowles (Featuring Jay-Z).  This tonight was our favourite act and can’t wait to see her performance next week!

Introducing Eurovision: Your Country Needs You

Battling to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest for 2009 in Moscow, Graham Norton leads us in a How do you solve a problem like … ‘Maria?’ / ‘Joseph’ style competition to find the act who will take to the stage and sing a song composed by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and his team.

Starting on Saturday 3rd January 2009, we will be introduced to contestants who have been shortlisted by Sir Andrew and a team of music industry professionals.  Then, starting on 10th January 2009, we – the public – will get the chance to vote for who we want to represent our country at this years contest.
