Week 4 – Dancing On Ice 2009

Sunday, 1st February 2009

This week was either going to be fun packed or very heated and I think we ended up getting a bit of both!

The judges were particularly vocal with Jason being booed by the audience during most of his comments throughout the show.

Don’t forget to tune in next week at 6:50pm on itv1 for another fantastic show!

Note to advertisers: If you’d like to feature products from your clothing range and as part of our ‘Switch & Save‘ links below, then please get in touch using our ‘Contact Us‘ page.

Switch & Save – [Watch This Space]

After Christopher Dean taking a side step (Forgive the pun!) from the last few performances on the ice, he was back on form, alongside Jayne – performing elegantly on the ice.  We were particularly keen on finding out where she got hold of her gorgeous black and white dress.

1st Performance

Melinda Messenger & Fred Palascak

Avoiding the skate-off last week, unfortunately Melinda and Fred failed to impress the public enough to keep them in the competition again but the judging panel seen past that and kept them in for another week. Wearing a typical big spanish red costume, including frills, the couple performed the set routine to Los Del Rio’s ‘Macarena’ and received a moderate 16.5 out of 30 – slightly lower than last week but mainly due to their failed lift.

2nd Performance

Ray Quinn & Maria Filippov

Performing to Michael Jackon’s ‘Smooth Criminal’, partners Ray and Maria carried on showing that they have what it takes to get through to the finals, although not particularly strong choreography, the comments from the judges were fantastic and seen them score a fantastic 24 out of 30.  The couple looked very styled in black and white costumes with suit like detail.

3rd Performance

Zoe Salmon & Matt Evers

Skating to the recent pop hit ‘Hot n Cold’ by Katy Perry – Zoe wowed both the judges and audience with a great comeback, after her confidence took a knock last week and scored a high 20 out of 30.  The couple wore a combination of silver and diamoned costumes.

4th Performance

Ellery Hanley & Frankie Poultney

Completing a safe and slightly rushed performance, rugby star Ellery and partner Frankie skated to U2’s ‘With or Without You’.  The couple wore midnight dusty blue costumes with icicle detail and after missing a few basic moves, they scored 16 out of 30.

5th Performance

Coleen Nolan & Stuart Widdall

Performing to one of her own hits ‘I’m in the Mood for Dancing’ by The Nolans and scoring a respectable 16 out of 20, Coleen’s confidence is obviously on the increase and despite a few labour intensive moves, the judges thought that all round it was a good performance.  Coleen was particularly pleased to be “wearing a tootoo whilst performing to a song of her own”.

6th Performance

Michael Underwood & Melanie Lambert

Wearing lipstick patterned costumes, Michael and partner Melanie took to the ice and performed to Prince’s ‘Kiss’ (You seen that coming didn’t you?) and scored an fantastic 18.5.  The judges commented that week on week an improvement was being seen and now they needed to bring both the Michael in training and the one of the live show together.

7th Performance

Roxanne Pallett & Daniel Whiston

Dancing to Gabriella Cilmi’s ‘Sweet About Me’, Roxanne wore a daring purple costume which didn’t leave much to the imagination – something she’d reportably been asking for prior to the competition starting.  Although the judges comments were mixed, commenting on her ‘core’, the couple received an average 17 out of 30.

8th Performance

Todd Carty & Susie Lipanova

After a comical but slightly disasterous performance last week, Todd and partner Susie took to the ice performing to ‘Every Breath You Take’ by Police.  The judges commented that they couldn’t mark anything other than the moves and fell at the bottom of the board with a lowest of low 7.5 out of 20.

9th Performance

Jessica Taylor & Pavel Aubrecht

Entering the ink rink, wearing phycaldelic costumes – Jessica and her partner Pavel danced to Dee-Lite’s ‘Groove is in the Heart’ and received further criticism for her lack of emotion and connection with the audience on the ice.  However, she did score a respectful 21.5 putting her at the top end of the board.

Voted out of the show this week was Michael Underwood and partner Melanie Lambert, who narrowly missed being saved by the judges and was a shock to us too, as Michael has previous experience on the ice from last year before gaining an injury.

Week 3 – Dancing On Ice 2009

Sunday, 25th January 2009

After losing self-confessed ‘Superfan’ Gemma Bissix, this week’s show was anticipated to be full of entertainment but never could we expect what was achieved in the live show!

Once again Jayne Torvill looked stunning, wearing a long black evening dress with silver detail around her waist.  Her chain necklace was particuarly stunning, something were tracking down as this is being typed up!! (Watch this space)   Christopher Dean confirmed he’ll be joining Jayne back on the ice again next week too, now fully recovered from a recent arm injury.

Karen looked equally as stunning and an outfit we will getting details of soon too.

1st Performance

Ellery Hanley & Frankie Poultney

Skating to 5 Years Times by Noah & The Whale, Ellery and partner Frankie suffered criticism due to various timing issues.  Wearing sky blue costumes during their performance, the couple came away with a respectable 16 out of 30.

2nd Performance

Jessica Taylor & Pavel Aubrecht

Up next was singer Jessica and professional skater Pavel, performing to ‘Heaven (Candlelight Mix)’ by DJ Sammy. Scoring a 20.5 (.5 lower than their score last week), some of the judges thought that although this was Jessica’s wedding song, no emotion was trasmitted to the audience.  The couple wore white costumes with silver lined detail.

3rd Performance

Donal McIntyre & Florentine Houdiniere

Performing to ‘The Dock of the Bay’ by Otis Reading, the couple dusky blue costumes with Florentine’s designed to flow gracefully as she skated around the ice rink.  Over the routine was good and judges scored it at 15 out of 30.

4th Performance

Coleen Nolan & Stuart Widdall

After the public voted her to stay last week, Coleen came back fighting with tons more confidence that we ever expected!  Skating to Ireland’s Industry, her both her partner.  Wearing a ‘candy colour’ style costume that we keep seeing in the magazines and on the runway, she looked glamurous with gold, pink and orange incorporated.  12.5 disappoiting last week, they upped it to 17 this week.

5th Performance

Jeremy Edwards & Darya Nicci

Performing to the pop classic ‘Faith’ by George Michael, Darya skated onto the ice wearing lime green socks, hot pants and top. The couple scored a total of 16 – some judges with high and others with lower.  They commented that is wasn’t incredibly technical but scored well non-the-less.

6th Performance

Melinda Messenger & Fred Palascak

In the sk ate-off last week, Melinda and her partner Fred skated to Helen Westerna’s version of ‘Both Sides Now’ and scored higher than last week, a respectful 19 out of 30.  The couple wore blue costumes with silver striped patterns.

7th Performance

Ray Quinn & Maria Filippov

Wearing a white dress with silver detail, Maria and celebrity Ray Quinn danced to ‘You Make it Real’ by James Morrison with elegance and skill.  Scoring 5 by each judge, the couple scored 25 out of a possible 30.

8th Performance

Michael Underwood & Melanie Lambert

Dancing to ‘Fascination’  by pop group Alphabeat and scoring a slightly higher than last week, respectable 17 – Michael and partner Melanie wore glittery lilac outfits, carefully stained with red and pink dye.

9th Performance

Zoe Salmon & Matt Evers

Wearing a glamourous red dress, Zoe started the evening in rehearsals still falling and making mistakes with the steps and moves they’d been asked to include in this week’s performance. However, stumbling a little during the live show, she still performed well – scoring 16.5. The couple skated to ‘Rise Again’ by Gabrielle.

10th Performance

Todd Carty & Susie Lipanova

Dancing to The Beatle’s ‘Help’,  Todd’s partner Susie wore a blue top with orange poka dot flowing skirt.  Todd coupled this with a VERY LOUD jacket.  Scoring a very low but comedy worthy 9.5 – owed due to Todd flying out of sight and off the rink.  Although it was choreographed, Todd added his own spirit to the performance and was clearly everyone’s favourite performance on the night.

11th Performance

Roxanne Pallet & Daniel Whiston

Last to enter the rink was Roxanne and her partner Daniel, performing to ‘Genie in a Bottle’ by Christina Aguilera. Roxanne sported a canary yellow dress, with green detail and pink top.  The couple scored a respectable 18, a little higher than last week.

Voted out this week was a visitor favourite Darya Nicci and celebrity partner Jeremy Edwards.  A good sport on the show, Jeremy commented “the best man won tonight” and wished fellow contestant Ellery Hanley, who joined him the bottom two, good luck.

Week 2 – Dancing On Ice 2009

After the boys performances last week, the girls knew they were going to have to pick up their pace… but after tonight’s show it was clear this gave them a clear advantage.  Then next week sees both the Girls and Guys performing on a feature packed show.

Dancing to the Spice Girls, Jayne Torvill wore a pink dress and belt, whilst Christopher Dean stayed off the ice due to a minor injury.

Throughout the remainder of the show, Jayne Torvill was wearing a slim black dress with a bubbled bottom  (View & Buy @ Whistles – verified) and big sparkly necklace (View & Buy @ Oasis – verified).

Performing to the classic ‘La Isla Bonita’ by Madonna, Jessica and Pavel picked up on the spanish theme; dressing in red – Jessica’s costume with an open front and silver jewels.  The couple scored the highest score of the night with a massive 21 out of a possible 30.  The judges were very impressed, although jason felt no passion, with an early prediction of being in the final.

Voted out by the judges this week was couple Gemma Bissix & Andrei Lipanov, with Gemma admitting that she was “gutted to be going” as a self-confessed super fan of the show.

Keep your eyes peeled to this page over the next few days to see where you too can buy the dresses and outfits on the show.

Getting off to a great start, Jane Torvill was seen wearing a sparkly red dress (View & Buy – Short Red Sequin Dress @ Yoox – Unverified), dancing and skating to The Gossip’s ‘Standing in the way of control’.  She then spent the remainder of the show wearing a dress looking similar to that worn by Alexandra Burke in Week 1 of The X Factor last year – Sparkly Cowl Paillette Black Pewter Sequin Dress @ Chica Boutique – (Unverified).

Ray wowed everyone, including the judges, with what looked like a ‘week 5′ performance and being local to Liverpool myself, he would have found it hard to practice growing up and naturally picked it up during the show’s training sessions.  His skating partner, Maria, wore a sparkly (“pantomime” – commented the announcer) shorts and pink top.  Following this excellent performance, Ray scored a deserved 23.5.  The couple performed to the 90’s hit ‘Hmm Bop’ by teen band Hanson.
